Original Japanese Woodblock Prints
by various artists from the Edo Period, prior to the 1868 Meiji period
Original 150+-year-old woodblock prints
THESE PRINTS ARE "TIPPED" ON TO A BACKING PAPER FROM THE 2 TOP CORNERS ONLY. SOME SIDES MAY BE TRIMMED (AS ISSUED).
UNDERNEATH THE PRINT, ON THE BACKING PAPER, IS A STATEMENT OF GENUINENESS BY S.M. SHIBA MIYANOSHITA ALONG WITH THE ARTIST'S NAME AND PERIOD DURING WHICH HE WAS MOST ACTIVE OR WHEN THE PRINT WAS PRODUCED.
Please click on the thumbnail images below for an enlarged view of the print. The backing paper is too large to scan entirely, so all of it is not shown.
Obviously, the Darvill's digital watermark does not appear on the actual original antique woodblock print. It is meant to deter image theft.
